Antlered Man single / Capac Remix

Antlered Man’s debut single went really well. We received loads of press, including Kerrang, Rock Sound, Big Cheese and online went mad for it.

The release was topped off with an amazing single launch party. We packed out Electrowerkz and put on one hell of a show. Dont just take our word for it though, check out the video and the photos below.

Also, a special mention about Capac’s remix for the Spokes single 345. Blogs went mad for the track and Mixmag gave the remix 4 out of 5 headphones, sweet (check below).

We’ve been extremely busy getting everything ready for Antlered Man’s debut single release. We’d like to say thanks to John Kennedy for giving the “Surrounded By White Men” radio exposure on Xfm last night. Also, thanks to everyone that came along to the gigs in February, we had a fantastic response from both shows, as you’ll read below..

ANTLERED MAN – NEW VIDEO

For those of you whom are still unaccustomed to the wonders and workings of Antlered Man, please click the image above to check out the video for their debut single “Surrounded By White Men”, which is set for release on April 18th.

Shot during one afternoon at their Bermondsey studio, the band make use of the uber-compact GoPro HD video camera, to get some great shots of the themselves ripping it up playing the single. The video has a skater vibe going on and we feel that this matches up perfectly with the gritty anti-establishmentarian lyrics.

We were fortunate to find out that freelance journalist Ben Wilmott was in the crowd during the band’s show at Catch the other week. Apparently he was impressed with the band’s performance and went on to give the night 4 out of 5… err… flies.

He was incredibly complimentary regarding Antlered Man in particular…

Seasons greetings to you! As this is the last mail-out that we’ll be doing this side of Christmas, we would firstly like to wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

We’ve been a little quiet over the past month, as there have been some significant changes to our roster and also some exciting developments that will see us working with some fantastic new artists early in 2011.

Tim and Sam have been commissioned by The National Theatre to provide post-show music for a production called Greenlands which is starting in January. Please see below for more info:

Stewart Brand The questions we all have about the environment and the future are exhilaratingly intricate. Knowing what and who to trust is an increasingly bewildering challenge. Only a few things are certain: every living thing is related to every other living thing; our actions have consequences; change is constant and inevitable. Seeking to understand a subject of great complexity, the National Theatre has asked four of the most distinct and exciting playwrights in British theatre to collaborate on a new piece of documentary theatre. This team has spent six months interviewing key individuals from the worlds of science, politics, business and philosophy in an effort to understand our changing relationship with the planet.

Greenland combines the factual and the theatrical as several separate but connected narratives collide to form a provocative response to the most urgent questions of our time.

Spokes single launch party – under a week to go…

Hotly tipped Counter Records (Ninja Tune) signing, Spokes, celebrate the launch of their first single “We Can Make It Out” from a soon to be released debut LP. Expect an emotionally charged and epic performance from one of Manchester’s true gems.

Support comes from a pairing that could develop into Liverpool’s young answer to Orbital. Capac have been hotly tipped by Huw Stephens, with a debut EP released by On The Shelf Records showing huge potential for this dance orientated twosome. Expect to be impressed with techy beats and post rock elements.

Finishing this excellent lineup – Our Lost Infantry make millimetre perfect art rock with heavy leanings towards post rock that is an absolute joy to listen to. Harnessing the power of all out shouty rock moments of pure emotion with delicately handled quieter moments of beauty, often all in the same song, they are completely enthralling.

Thanks to everyone made it along to see Foreign Office play at The Bull and Gate last week. We had a fantastic night. Special thanks goes for Gem and Jules at PRS for Music for organising such a great showcase. There was a video taken of the show, so we’ll hopefully be able to include it in our next newsletter.

www.foreignofficemusic.co.uk also went live last week, where you can pre-order the band’s next single titled “On Repeat”. We are extremely excited about the release, which is being released under our own label “Quiet Life Records”. The track was produced by Amir Amor, who has just been named number 13 in the NME hottest producers list, click here to read the article.

HOOKED ON MUSIC BANDS @ IN THE CITY

We have two fantastic performances at ITC tomorrow (Wednesday). Foreign Office kick of proceedings on stage at 10pm, playing the iTunes Unsigned showcase at Noho. This is followed by Tim & Sam headlining the BBC Introducing stage at 11pm at Band On The Wall. The set is going to be recorded and aired as a 6music session with Tom Robinson the following week.

Then on the Friday night, Tim & Sam play Manchester Academy 2 supporting Cherry Ghost, this is not part of ITC, but it’s on at the same time and it should be one hell of a show!

There’s a lot going on at Hooked On Music HQ at the moment, so we hope you don’t mind the frequency of our updates – they wont be weekly if we don’t have anything to tell you about.

First up, we’d like to thank TheLiveList for inviting Foreign Office to play their launch party last Tuesday night. It was a great night for everybody involved and you might be surprised to hear that we think Foreign Office stole the show. The room was absolutely rammed, so sorry if you were stuck in the hallway whilst they played!

PRS FOR MUSIC “ALMOST FAMOUS” SHOWCASE – THURS 7TH OCT @ THE BULL & GATE

If you didn’t get a chance to see them, the band take to the stage again this Thursday at a PRS for Music “Almost Famous” showcase at The Bull & Gate, Kentish Town. We are using this show to unveil a new batch of 5 demos that we are keen to release early in 2011. You’ll also get a chance to check out their new single titled “On Repeat”, which is set for release on November 8th.

HOOKED ON MUSIC BANDS @ IN THE CITY

Both bands on the Hooked On Music roster have been invited to play at In The City this year. We were extremely excited when Tom Robinson got in touch to ask if Tim & Sam would headline the BBC Introducing stage on the Wednesday night. The show takes place at a fantastic new venue called Band On The Wall. If you are yet to check Tim & Sam out, then I would highly recommend coming down as we think that this venue will offer the perfect setting to see them.

Before this, you’ll get another chance to see Foreign Office, who also play the Wednesday night, 10pm at Noho.

Both shows are just around the corner from eachother, so it’s a great opportunity to see our roster perform two great showcase over two hours – the perfect way to kick off the conference!

Then on the Friday night Tim & Sam play Manchester Academy 2 (the last date on their UK tour with Cherry Ghost). Although it’s not part of the ITC schedule, it’s in the same city and will be the biggest gig that Tim & Sam have ever played so we hope to see some familiar faces in the crowd. Tim and Sam were recently asked to remix a couple of tracks for DBD’s new LP.

The remixes have proved so successful that they’ve been used in many different ways, including a remix album and being featured on a free EP that Badly Drawn Boy is giving away via his facebook page.
